A woman accused of shooting her 12-year-old son in her home near southern Chicago on Saturday was ordered not to be released on bail on Sunday.

Officials said that Falun Harris, 37, was charged with first-degree murder and her son Carden Ingram died in the 8000 block of South Bennett Avenue.

According to Cook County State Attorney Eugene Wood, Harris confronted Carden at around 10:15 on Saturday morning and asked her about the whereabouts of the digital memory card she removed from the car the night before.

Wood said in Harris' first court appearance on Sunday that when Carden's mother pointed a gun at him, he could not show the memory card, so she shot him.

According to the police, an eyewitness discovered that the boy was shot in the head at about 10:30 in the morning and did not respond. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the police, Harris was detained shortly after the shooting, which appeared to be a domestic violence case.

Harris’ court-appointed lawyer described her client as a lifelong resident of Cook County, “has been a period of time” as a city laborer. City records show that she was employed by the Chicago Department of Transportation for $45.90 per hour.

The judge ordered Harris not to be released on bail. She will appear in court on Monday. The judge also signed a health care order allowing Harris to be evaluated.
